2012 MDA Fill The Boot |
|
Fill-the-Boot is a 58-year tradition that began as the brainchild of two Boston firefighters in 1954. Butch Snyder and Jim Gigsby, along with fellow Boston firefighters, wanted to help "Jerry's Kids," so they grabbed their boots and headed out into the community with the hope that people would fill those boots with donations. Little did they know that they would be initiating a long-time partnership between the firefighter community and MDA. Since that humble beginning, firefighters' boots across the country have overflowed with donations, totaling more than $400 million!
This year's Fill The Boot will be Saturday, August 25th from 9-5pm. We need at least 15 people to help in the morning and 15 in the afternoon. Kelly Williamson will be coordinating the event for Kennewick. He will have everything set up the day before due to being on duty Saturday. Please contact him at 509-551-9788 or email him at kwflames@charter.net to let him know that you can help. Thank you.

Fill The Boot 2011 |
|
The Kennewick Fire Department had another sucessful "Fill the Boot" campaign in 2011 and raised approximately $10,500 for the MDA. We wish to extend our thanks to all the members of the local agencies, explorers, volunteers and others that helped make this a great year. Thanks to Kelly for organizing the event along with the great people from the MDA.
